I was appointed by the Order's Pontiff. [AKA the Pope.] He had the utmost faith in my ability to root out dissent and help keep the peace. I believe he had a good idea of what struggles the Order was going to face down the road.
[Temenos nods. His smile doesn't quite meet his eyes.]
He did. He had become aware of a force that was not only amassing against the Church, but against the entire realm. The Moonshade Order is what they call themselves.
They had him killed, along with anyone else who posed a threat to them and their goals. Suffice to say that I have become one of their chief targets at this point.

The former, I imagine. My investigations led me to uncovering their existence and how deeply they had wormed their way into the Church's ranks. Had I not conducted my own investigations, the deaths of the Pontiff and many others would have been covered up as terrible accidents.
They have. As much as I had hoped to see them taken before the courts, well... They were quite intent on silencing me, so I had no choice but to fight back.

I don't have enough information to answer that, though I will say the ability to travel to other worlds is unheard of in Solistia. Not even the gods are said to have such an ability. More still, technology is certainly not as advanced in Solistia as it is here.
We can't rule out some sort of collaboration...but that is getting a bit too speculative for my liking.
