A sports one, for something called "football". I've never seen it before, but the rules are similar to a sport I play back home.
There's a two-player mode. I enjoyed spending time with you yesterday, and you helped me out. So I wanted to know if you'd be interested in trying it out.
[Whenever Wang Lu returns from the scene of the crime, he'll find the disaster area left behind in the kitchen, the broken door, and a missing fly boy. Thankfully, given the sheer amount of cake flour everywhere, tracking him isn't a problem, a haphazard but reliable trail out the buffet and towards the beach.
It looks like Beelzebub has already hit the showers by the time Wang Lu arrives, his hair still wet and his wings buzzing in a low thrum behind him as he wearily straddles a long chair, shirt and jacket both off as he lifts his hand to do a weak wind spell against them. Dark black bands wrap around his sides like a tiger at various intervals on his skin from the neck down, hooking downward like a scythe.
[ For a moment he wonders if it's related to the crime, but as he follows it back to the beach he quickly realizes that someone else was culprit. He ponders on if it would be a good idea to sneak up on the demon but Beel beats him to the punch.
At first, he shakes his head almost fondly and then it sinks in to what the other said. Smell?
He's going to bring an arm up to sniff at the green Hawaiian shirt he's sporting. Does he smell? Hello? ]
Yeah. I can tell if birds and animals have left their normal nesting spots just by their scent. I can also tell if people are human, or some other things, by how they smell.
[He takes a glance over his shoulder at the question, his eyes falling to the ground, before he turns away.]
No. I don't remember falling asleep. But I woke up, and all I knew was I was so hungry, I didn't care what I ate.
The morning's kind of a blur. But I saw the kitchen.
[ He's not going to ask how he smells like. While he's curious, he also doesn't want to give power to any bit of insecurity that may be leftover from the past. ]
Maybe we should make sure someone is with you next time we're all magicked to sleep. Or at least leave you with a few turkey legs.
No, I don't care to if they're not a meal. It's just easier to pick out people I've spent more time with. You've been nice to me. So I like your scent.
[Normal things to hear from a giant fly man.]
Yeah. If I'd known I would be sleeping that long, I would have had snacks.
But I don't think someone being with me would have helped this time. I might have tried to eat them, if I was too hungry.
[ He isn't sure if he should be happy Beel likes his smell because he's nice or unsure because Beel likes his smell because he's nice. He could still smell bad and the other would like it? ]
You're an easy guy to get along with. [ A few would be willing to protecc the good boy ]
You might have, but maybe we should be thinking about what to do about the next time. [ Since this place has a demands...a next time may happen again ] You should come with me.
[Surprisingly, the demon starts to laugh, politely moving his legs and even lifting Wang Lu by the waist so he can get a better footing. The strength used is almost effortless.]
[ Hello? This is new and he isn't sure how to feel about someone being able to effortlessly lift him up. He's going to put a hand on Beel as he is lifted up. ]
Normally, this is the other way around. [ Pointing between them. He's the main character and should be picking people up! Never mind that Beel probably weighs a ton ]
Don't worry. I heal pretty fast even with broken bones. [ He has experience there ]
[ Someone should fix that, but it's too embarrassing for him to do so ]
They are a cultivation technique and the running in particular is called Winding Steps. I have another technique, but can't show that off unless someone breaks my bones.
Sort of. There was that sports game I talked to you about that reminded me of Fangol. But mostly, my brother Levi drags us over to his room to play Devildom video games, too.
I don't always understand it, though. I don't understand most of what Levi says.
[ Yeah, he remembers. Sports might not work out though. ] Trying to get creative with how I explain it. [ Giving a wink.
He'll tap about where the core is on Beel. ]
It's leveling up your core through training and meditation. Like earning levels in a game or marinating a steak. [ Is food better? ] If we have the aptitude to it, we can level it up high enough, we can pretty much become immortal.
[ There's angry honking happening inside of the Aviary. Then he'll hear a familiar voice yelling out and the sound of wings going crazy. Will Beelzebub come check it out? ]
[It's not a cozy spot, tucked in the sea caves on Seagem. The rocks are cold, and the rock cage a little colder, fused with the back of the cave wall.
There is a kittybot nearby, just out of reach to actually be touched but routinely depositing snacks. Beelzebub, behind the stone bars, is pacing back and forth, occasionally reaching through the bards to grab whatever is handed to him and shove it into his mouth in the midst of his pacing.
He'll just walk over and sit there with his back against the bars next to where the snackening is happening. He won't get in the way of it, but does want to be seen ]
You know, the last time I was here... [ Hm. ] Never mind. Do you want company? I don't mind lending myself out to you for some time.
Not long at all. [ He's just going to offer a shrug. ] It's not a bad place. There's the sea and you'll have quite the view of the stars through the bars.
[ There's a large enough gap for people to fit their heads through so it's not that bad, right? ]
I wanted to get some answers. But... maybe they were right. Maybe I should have just stayed where I was. Maybe whatever I did was just the most selfish thing I could have done.
And now three people are dead. Two of them because of me. I can't give the people they loved any answers, or peace. I can't do anything to fix it. And the way everyone started fighting when I left the beach...
I know that's my Sin that I need to bear. But even though I wanted to protect everyone... I just did the opposite.
I don't know if it would have been better to stay still. This place was greedy this week, and wanted more sacrifices that night. If you stayed in place, maybe one of the others awake would have sought you out.
Wondering about the should have and would haves will only weigh more and more heavier on you. You did what you thought was best at the time.
I could tell you my theories as to what happened that night, but in the end you will find out when you join them.
[Wang Lu isn't wrong. But it still feels impossible to accept that he did the best he could when couldn't remember what he even did in the first place.]
It's clear you weren't starving since you were left with quite a bit of snacks and- [ Ah ]
You know when you have one of those moments where you realize another theory much too late? I am now wondering if the bird blood was for you. If someone made you go in a frenzy intentionally.
My original idea was you got mad at seeing Nona like that.
WEEK 2 - WEDNESDAY MORNING (un: Beelzeburger)
Have you played a video game before?
no subject
I have. Is there one in particular that catches your fancy?
no subject
A sports one, for something called "football". I've never seen it before, but the rules are similar to a sport I play back home.
There's a two-player mode. I enjoyed spending time with you yesterday, and you helped me out. So I wanted to know if you'd be interested in trying it out.
no subject
I'm game to try it out. It's been a while since I've played any sports games.
How are you at video games normally?
no subject
But that's not always the case.
WEEK 2 - POST INVESTIGATION
It looks like Beelzebub has already hit the showers by the time Wang Lu arrives, his hair still wet and his wings buzzing in a low thrum behind him as he wearily straddles a long chair, shirt and jacket both off as he lifts his hand to do a weak wind spell against them. Dark black bands wrap around his sides like a tiger at various intervals on his skin from the neck down, hooking downward like a scythe.
He won't even turn as the young man approaches.]
Is that you I smell, Wang Lu?
no subject
At first, he shakes his head almost fondly and then it sinks in to what the other said. Smell?
He's going to bring an arm up to sniff at the green Hawaiian shirt he's sporting. Does he smell? Hello? ]
It is. Didn't know you could smell that well.
[ Also, in case his shirt looks familiar... they are all matching. ]
Did the kitchen run out of your favorite snack?
no subject
[He takes a glance over his shoulder at the question, his eyes falling to the ground, before he turns away.]
No. I don't remember falling asleep. But I woke up, and all I knew was I was so hungry, I didn't care what I ate.
The morning's kind of a blur. But I saw the kitchen.
no subject
Have you memorized everyone's scent here then?
[ He's not going to ask how he smells like. While he's curious, he also doesn't want to give power to any bit of insecurity that may be leftover from the past. ]
Maybe we should make sure someone is with you next time we're all magicked to sleep. Or at least leave you with a few turkey legs.

[...]
You know that's dangerous, right?
no subject
[ Like sonic ]
no subject
[He mulls it over for a few moments.]
Show me. How fast is "fast"?
no subject
You know, normally people want to see my other skills.
[ What people.
Anyways, he's going to turn into a blur of green hawaiian shirt in an instant. Gone and then coming back and
tripping on his fucking sandals. Time to eat sand or crash into Beel ]
no subject
[Crashing into Beel is the funny option so that's what's happening, demon and Wang Lu and the lounge chair going tumbling backwards into the sand.
Beelzebub at least tries to get his hands up, but that won't do anything against that level of momentum. Time to eat sand x2.]
no subject
Down they go in a mess of limbs and chair limbs? ]
Whoa! [ Imagine if he broke something before the trial and no one knew.
Once they stop tumbling, he's going to sigh. ] My luck skills must have taken a nerf here. [ His stats :< Time to try to get out from pile up 2.0 ]
no subject
You really are fast.
Are you okay? Nothing hurts, does it?
no subject
Normally, this is the other way around. [ Pointing between them. He's the main character and should be picking people up! Never mind that Beel probably weighs a ton ]
Don't worry. I heal pretty fast even with broken bones. [ He has experience there ]
no subject
He's gonna go rescue the poor lounge chair from its new bed in the sand.]
Do you have those kinds of powers naturally? That's pretty unusual for a human that isn't using magic.
no subject
That is one of your charming points.
[ He's sure as time progresses, everyone will be like the meme of someone holding a dog when it comes to the demon. ]
I am naturally skilled at quite a number of things, but not these powers. They were something I had to learn.
no subject
[Compliments are nice. He doesn't get them often.]
What would you call them? I've seen lots of types of magic, but yours didn't look like anything I usually see.
no subject
They are a cultivation technique and the running in particular is called Winding Steps. I have another technique, but can't show that off unless someone breaks my bones.
no subject
What's "cultivation", anyway? I know it for food, as far as farming. But I didn't think that kind of cultivation gave anyone abilities.
no subject
[ Beel has probably had enough masochism after a certain Frenchman.
Hmmm. ]
Do you know anything about video games?
no subject
I don't always understand it, though. I don't understand most of what Levi says.
[His head tilts slightly.]
Why?
no subject
He'll tap about where the core is on Beel. ]

week 3 wednesday (pre-naked party time)
no subject
Yeah, let's go take a peek. Did someone fall into the aviary? Sucks to be them, but might as well check.]
no subject
Where the most vicious animal on the island reign supreme.
He will see Wang Lu running from vicious geese! It looks like one of them has a piece of his shirt in it's beak. ]
I won't taste good I promise! [ Like they can be reasoned with ]
WEEK 5 - POST TRIAL
There is a kittybot nearby, just out of reach to actually be touched but routinely depositing snacks. Beelzebub, behind the stone bars, is pacing back and forth, occasionally reaching through the bards to grab whatever is handed to him and shove it into his mouth in the midst of his pacing.
He doesn't notice his company.]
no subject
He'll just walk over and sit there with his back against the bars next to where the snackening is happening. He won't get in the way of it, but does want to be seen ]
You know, the last time I was here... [ Hm. ] Never mind. Do you want company? I don't mind lending myself out to you for some time.
no subject
...Wang Lu.
Sorry. I don't mind. It's... not really the best place.
You haven't been sitting there for long, have you?
no subject
[ There's a large enough gap for people to fit their heads through so it's not that bad, right? ]
I will keep an eye on him.
no subject
I appreciate it. I don't...
...
[He exhales slowly through the nose, lowering himself to the floor nearby Wang Lu. Sup, buddy.]
I don't want him blaming himself for this. He's been through enough.
no subject
Don't worry. I wouldn't let him do that. He is a very dear friend of mine.
no subject
Mn.
I'm glad he has someone like you. And I'm glad you've been so levelheaded through everything.
We're all lucky to have a person like you around.
no subject
I will take the compliment. [ He won't even joke about how he knows everyone is lucky because he's good looking ]
While I know it may be a bit silly to ask this, I feel like I should... how are you feeling?
no subject
He sighs quietly.]
Like I've failed everybody.

...
What do you think happened? I'd like to know.
no subject
You know when you have one of those moments where you realize another theory much too late? I am now wondering if the bird blood was for you. If someone made you go in a frenzy intentionally.
