Oh, is visiting over already? [ He doesn't seem worried about it. ]
Well, I can be quiet.
[ Tylor grins like he means it, kicking off his shoes as he pulls a leg up and settles comfortably at Bear's side. The position turns his back to him, but Tylor is delicate about where his weight goes. As if he already knows what positions work from Sunday.
A promise of quiet is not a promise of complete silence, so Tylor hums softly as he shuffles a few color choices out of the package.
[So long as Tylor minds the Very Large leg cast taking up most of the bed, his seating arrangements aren't fussed about by Barrett.]
Dunno. They usually start telling people to leave when the sun goes down. I won't tell on you if you wanna stay for a bit, though.
[It's not like he really has much else to do other than stare at the ceiling and stare at the walls and stare at the window and hope he falls asleep when the meds kick in hard for the evening.
He glances at the book in his hand, giving it a moment of pause before shrugging.]
It's okay. I'm kind of having a hard time focusing on it.
[ Tylor says his thanks too loud, but repeats it quieter, softer. Like a kid staying up too late at a slumber party. He starts on the lion first, holding up a light gold sharpie for Bear to see as he goes on talking. Or maybe he's trying to decide if it's a fitting color-- ]
Oh, me neither. Being read to is way more fun if you ask me. But, how about coloring?
[He jumps a bit at the volume, but chuckles a little as he shushes Tylor. Lol. He reminds him a little of Matt like this... probably a lot less scummy, thank god.]
I don't think I've done that since I was a kid. We play Pictionary sometimes at home, but nobody really likes being on my team because I'm not all that good at drawing.
I tried to draw Levi's favorite character once and nobody really recognized it... Levi still kept it, though.
[ Tylor says it with full warmth as he shifts a bit, reaching this way and that into his coat until he pulls out a coloring book and tries to straighten it out. It's only a little bent. ]
Besides, what's important is the person you drew it for likes it. Who cares what anyone else thinks?
[ Tylor forgets the gold sharpie for now, turning to offer up the book instead. He's still careful of the cast. ]
Try this. It's more fun than reading. And you don't even have to worry about any of the lines. You can color it however you want!
[Barrett gives a nod of agreement, though he stays quiet as Tylor just keeps Mary Poppins pulling stuff out of his coat. How much stuff you got in there, buddy, and also how did you get it past security...]
Oh. A coloring book?
[Huh.
He flips through the pages carefully. Man, when's the last time he even touched one of these... but it does sound a lot more appealing right this second than trying to read some more.]
That's right. And this one is for adults. It has all kinds of neat patterns and animals too.
[ Tylor picks up the pack of markers and sets it within reach of both of them. There's like 30 of these little pens to choose from. Knee gently to Bear's side, Tylor leans to peer at the book too. ]
Pretty cool, right? And don't worry, sharpies are easy. The color is vibrant so it's not hard to fill in spaces.
Oh and use that under the pages. The ink can bleed through, and you don't want that!
[ Well, it came with thin cardboard for that. Tylor tries to balance and point where it's sticking out of the book. It's just as bent as the rest, but still usable. ]
[ Tylor turns back to the cast while Bear makes his selection. There's more shifting on the sliver of hospital bed he's claimed, gingerly near Bear as he leans back over his leg.
Over his shoulder, he glances back to Bear with his answer. ]
Of course I will. We'll all still care about you too, even if we can't play together. So don't worry.
[ Bear gets an even warmer smile out of Tylor for his worry, before Tylor turns back to the cast-- ] But why wouldn't you come back? I figured you'd have even more time for it now.
[hey siri how can i tell if my friend is detached from reality]
I-- I'm being watched by a ton of press, Tylor, that would end up over the news overnight if I just vanished. And Lucas wouldn't let any of you hear the end of it, either!
[His reputation is already rolling down a hill, man!]
I don't know you guys would manage. I'd be kind of big to get out of here without someone noticing right away...
[It's end up like a comedy movie..... the thought does get Barrett to laugh quietly under his breath, at least, the smile staying behind at the quieter pass of Tylor's words.]
...I guess so. I didn't think any of you would be coming back like this...
Oh, we'd figure it out! Hospitals are busy and full of wheelchairs too. I got in tonight, didn't I?
[ His response is playful now, smile in his voice. And don't mind him trying to find a marker to match Bear's actual hair. He even leans on one arm again to hold one up to check how close it is. But he gets distracted asking-- ]
[ He says it too breezy. But, right, Tylor has been trying to get better at this. Instead of leaving things vague like normal, he pauses after he sits back with his marker. ]
Well, actually, I didn't really have any friends before the beta.
You're a really nice guy and you care about everyone so much. I want to take care of you too sometimes, I think.

How's the book?

I don't usually read a lot.

I've never colored with Sharpies before.

[He gently tries to pry the cardboard loose, though pauses in thought as he does so, trying to smooth out the thick material with his hands.]
...Could I ask you a question?
no subject
[ Tylor answers breezily as he selects a grey marker. Grey and gold held in one hand. ]
no subject
We've got the conference at the end of the week, right?
[An ocean blue is pulled out. An aster purple.]
If I can't come back to the beta because of all this, could... you make sure Hani and Morgan have someone taking care of them? And Levi, too?
no subject
Over his shoulder, he glances back to Bear with his answer. ]

Are you going to the conference?
no subject
I don't know if I can. When I talked to the doctors this morning, they weren't sure if I'd be able to leave the hospital before next week.
I want to be there. But if I miss it, I lose beta access.
no subject
[ Tylor keeps working on the color with a soft hum right before he perks up and points his gold sharpie at Bear. ]
What if we break you out?
no subject
...Break me out of... what?
The hospital?
no subject
[ Tylor says it like it's no big deal too. ]
We'd be careful with your leg and everything.
[ Back to coloring with a shrug-- ] But it's up to you.

I-- I'm being watched by a ton of press, Tylor, that would end up over the news overnight if I just vanished. And Lucas wouldn't let any of you hear the end of it, either!
[His reputation is already rolling down a hill, man!]
I-- no. No.
I need to stay here and get better.
no subject
But it was fun to think about for a second, wasn't it?
[ He goes on, a shade softer as he turns back to find a color for the lion's mane. ]
But I really did mean it. Whether you're in game or not, it's not like we'll leave you behind. You matter too much to all of us now.
[ A glance to Bear, tone lighter again-- ] Sorry, you're stuck with us.
no subject
[It's end up like a comedy movie..... the thought does get Barrett to laugh quietly under his breath, at least, the smile staying behind at the quieter pass of Tylor's words.]

Thanks, Tylor. I'll try to remember that.

[ His response is playful now, smile in his voice. And don't mind him trying to find a marker to match Bear's actual hair. He even leans on one arm again to hold one up to check how close it is. But he gets distracted asking-- ]
Really? Why did you think that?
no subject
[It's a very silly mental image, even as he looks for a reddish color--]
Oh. Well.
You haven't really known me that long. You're not like my teammates, or my family.
I thought it might be something you'd see me once about, and then go home. You've got lives to live, right?
no subject
[ He says it too breezy. But, right, Tylor has been trying to get better at this. Instead of leaving things vague like normal, he pauses after he sits back with his marker. ]

...Do you get lonely a lot, Tylor?
no subject
[ He doesn't turn away again just yet. ]
What about you?
no subject
[He's not doing a very good job at this mandala, but he's still trying to stay in the lines.]
I never really liked being left alone.
It's easier when my family's so big, though. We always have someone.
no subject
[ Tylor watches his face as he answers, gaze drifting to the mandala. Sharing, it still takes an effort but somehow it isn't so hard like this. ]
Me neither.
But is that really what it's like, having a big family?
