Have you seen or read Moneyball? It seems like the halfway point between our interests.
( We're going to pretend the book and movie exist in the year 2000. It's about how someone radically altered the landscape of how baseball players were scouted and analyzed by using a fresh method of statistical analysis - a beautiful STEM-jock union. )
If you like those, you might also like Bladerunner and the novel it's based on. The movie is ritzier, though, so it might be more interesting.
I used to read sci-fi and research reports. Though I'd read outside those two if I had an interest.
I haven't really read too much since my accident though. I lost interest in the things I used to like before. I guess I could go about finding out what things I like now, but...
( There's a lull in replies as Mithrun goes through all the films available. )
Would you want to see Remember the Titans?
( It's very blatantly The Sports Movie, which Barrett did just say he'd like. But, in Mithrun's mind, it makes sense to pick a movie one of them will certainly like, since Mithrun could, in theory, come to like anything (or nothing at all - Mithrun is never very optimistic about his prognosis). )
( He had to mentally flip through the summaries he read. There were, actually, a few others that caught his eye - but they were R-rated thrillers, intense, and didn't really make for great... friend movie material, he figures. )
( Poor Kabru. He was so frazzled. But he's a lot easier to twist the arm of, and he's motivated by obligation (AKA, not leaving Mithrun to inevitably end up missing or hurt trying to catch a flight). Cithis doesn't do anything that she didn't get proper notice for - and, to be fair, she's not getting paid enough to do otherwise. )
Are you sure about paying?
( He has no clue what Barrett's financial situation is like, but... he can't imagine it's great, if they're potentially being supported by the eldest sibling, question mark? (Barring the one who ran off with his boyfriend). )
( Wow, government support for the poor has come so far... )
Okay. If you're sure.
( Weirdly, he finds his thoughts turning toward his flight again... He guesses some part of him is engaged with the idea of going on this trip, for whatever reason. )
I ended up setting my return flight for later in the week, so... I'll be around. Even after the movies.
You can text me when you're free. I'll be made of time so my schedule's not an issue... But it's fine if you don't have any. Classes and homework are more important. I can always fly in another time.
I know maybe six players? It's a bad idea to share people's information without their permission, though. I know one would probably punch me in the nose if I told anybody. :-)
Hani is here, though. Maybe they'd really like to see you.
If you're gonna be gone from Fragment that long for your trip, I'm sure they'll miss you.

( You can't just recommend a guy who doesn't read books anything and expect he'll take to it. He doesn't know what Barrett even likes. )

I like a lot of stuff. Nothing too complicated. Aiden put on Gone with the Wind once and I though I'd fall asleep.
Jurrasic Park was good. Hunchback of Notre Dame. Good Will Hunting. That one with that Damon guy... Fight Club?
Damian tried to get me to watch Seven, but he always spoils the twist, so I didn't like that as much.

What sort of stuff do you usually read, Morgan? [Given what he said before, it sounds like he must be into something less... sports-ish.]

I find I learn I like a lot more things than I realize when I see movies with my brothers.

I haven't seen anything recently. Been too busy with catching up on class work and my leg exercises. So anything will be new for me.

I heard it can be a little cheesy sometimes, but a few of my teammates have been recommending it.
You're sure you don't want to see anything else? I don't want to suffocate you with football all weekend.

( But, a few moments later: )
We could also see X-Men, if you want.

This is about you, so whatever catches your eye. I'm just here to get you in and buy the popcorn. πΏ

You'll have to tell me if you like it too.

Did you figure out if your carer is coming? That trip's the day after tomorrow - I can plan to get them a ticket too if they'll be with you.

The university pays completely for my tuition, room and board. So I have some extra money.

Maybe you can meet up with some others while you're here? There's a couple other Fragment players in state, and there's a lot to do in the Bay area.
I'll have to work on classes and stuff with my team since we fly out to Illinois next Friday. But I can be around in the evenings.

Maybe I'll invite them next time I travel, though.
( Hmmm... )
If I were to buy you plane tickets at some point, would you let me?
( Spend that money, he means. )

Let you?
I mean, it's your money. You can use it however you want.
Why would you buy me tickets, though?
